Color Scavenger Hunt

Today did not go as planned. I had planned to take the boys to pick blueberries. However mother nature had other plans. Those plans included acting like it was going to rain and thunderstorm all morning. But we live in Texas and that didn’t happen. The large storm system that was moving our direction died and we got very little rain, but at that point it was too late to make the trip to go blueberry picking.
As the natives were getting restless I had to come up with something to do, and quick, that would get us out of the house. Thus we went on a color scavenger hunt. I quickly made each boy a list with all the colors we were going to find and attached it to a clipboard. Within 10 minutes we were out the door.
Thing 1 and Thing 2 practiced the colors in Spanish. Thing 3 practiced his colors. It was a great way for the boys to get some exercise, get out of the house and didn’t require much time to prepare.
What activities have you been able to put together at the last minute?
