Geography {Week 1} : TX and OK

Written by Mommy Cameron | Homeschooling

I know that there are several people out there who are using Road Trip USA by Confessions of Homeschooler.  We are too, however, since my boys are only 4 and newly 3, I have decided that the best way for us to move through the curriculum would be to start with Texas since that is where we live.

On Tuesday we started with Texas, the Lone Star State.  We reviewed the state capital, and while the boys colored the coloring pages, I read from the atlas about the great state of Texas.

Thursday, we headed North to Oklahoma.  We took a few minutes to review Texas and the state capital.  I was surprised how much he remembered.  Then we moved on to learning about Oklahoma.

While Thing 1 was coloring the coloring page, he noticed the tornado on the paper.  That, of course, lead to a fun conversation about tornados.

I think that I am need to add something to the curriculum for the boys, I am just not sure what.  The curriculum is good, obviously, there is just not a whole lot written for 3 and 4 year olds.  I may make an interactive PowerPoint or something that will help reinforce what we are learning.  Who knows what I will come up with over the weekend.

Anyone have any ideas on how we can enhance the curriculum for a newly three and four year old?
