12 Days of Kid Made Christmas : Day 1 {Pinecone Birdfeeder}

Written by Mommy Cameron | Homeschooling

Today kicks off our 12 Days of Kid Made Christmas.  Our first project was a favorite from last year, pine cone bird feeders.

Supplies:
pine cone
peanut butter
bird seed
string or yarn to hang the pine cone
spoon or knife

Optional Supplies: (to help control the mess)
cookie sheet
aluminum foil

Directions:
I placed the foil on the cookie sheet to help contain the mess and make clean up easy.  Then the boys picked out a pine cone and started covering it in peanut butter.

And, if you are my boys, there is a little bit of tasting too.

Once your pine cone is covered, then roll it in the birdseed.  Just a note the more peanut butter, the more birdseed will stick.

Then I tied a string around the top and we headed out to hang our pinecones.

What crafts have you done with pinecones?

  1. Visiting from TGIF Linky Party. We made these last year and it was a huge hit. I actually just took them down this weekend….yay….the seeds, etc were long gone. haha!

  2. My daughter and I like your craft! My daughter also wants me to make sure I tell you how pretty it is! 🙂

Thanks. I will say they looked really pretty before all the rain we had over the weekend. They still look pretty good, but they just look a little wet. Make sure to put lots of peanut butter on there!
