12 Days of Kid Made Christmas : Day 9 {Seed Bead Ornament}

Written by Mommy Cameron | Homeschooling

This beautiful ornaments were probably the biggest hit last year.  I think we made them several days last year.  We even gave Thing 1’s preschool teacher one as a gift.

seed beads
round christmas ball
paint brush

1.  Pour a bunch of seed beads into a bowl.  In the picture, we were using what beads we had left over from last year, it is easier with more beads.

2.  Put a bunch of glue onto the ornament and then spread around with a paint brush.

3.  Roll the ornament around in the beads until coated.

4.  Let dry and enjoy!

You can also make designs with glue and then roll in the beads.  Where ever you put the glue is where the beads will stick.

      So, tell me….how in the world did you keep your beads from sliding off the round ball? I have done all as instructed and keep hearing the beads dripping off onto the floor……NOT drying fast enough? Beads too heavy? What’s going on! Help please!

        It has been a year since I have done this project, but here is what I remember. The smallest seed beads work better than the larger ones. I think I remember them falling off last year, but I would just sprinkle a few more back into the empty spots as it was still drying. I used Allean’s tacky glue because it seems to dry faster and is a little stickier than regular glue. Also, you don’t want to put too much glue on because it takes longer to dry which gives the beads more of a chance to fall. I hope this helps!
