We have had another awesome week.
Handwriting practice continues to consist of the writing practice pages from 1+1+1=1 for the first two days of school. On the last day, we practiced writing the letters C and c on the whiteboard.
Monday’s letter activity was making cupcakes! I have learned that Thing 2 responds well to food, he may not eat the most, but he enjoys being in the kitchen.
Thing 2 also did a poking page. These are becoming a favorite.
Our letter activities for Wednesday consisted of a simple letter maze that I made for him.
The last letter activity we did was to to make the letters C and c out of candy. It was a great way to get rid of some of the candy that we got at the Christmas parade. It also helped to reinforce what sound the letter c makes and give a few more examples of the words that start with the letter c.
We are still following along with the Saxon Kindergarten curriculum. Monday’s activity was beginning word problems. In order to make it more in line with Thing 2’s interest instead of using the counting bears, we used our “monsters” (aka pom poms with magnets attatched.) Thing 2 thougth the mosters were so much fun and he was all into the word problems. Thing 1, who was watching, ended up playing with the monsters after we were done with them.
Wednesday we discussed circles and rectangles and worked on classifying them by attributes. Instead of using just plane old paper shapes, I decided to use food instead. Thing 2 enjoyed this, especially the circle cupcake.
I have decided that we are going to finish out the Kumon cutting book before we cut back on daily cutting practice. Thing 2 has come so far in the last 3 months.
Like last week, we spent time reading a book and then I would have Thing 2 locate the letters C and c on the pages.
HERE are the couple of printables I made to go with our letter C work.
What have you done with your three year old this week?
