{Totally 3} Yummy Letter C

Written by Mommy Cameron | Homeschooling

Thing 2 was not feeling school this week. I think it may be because letter C is the letter in which I got the idea to do the yummy letters for him.  So 3 weeks ago, we did some of this material, but at that point I just wasn’t so sure he was getting it.

However, after this week I have changed my theory.  I am starting to think that Thing 2 knows more than he lets on, but some days he tries so hard to be the anti-Thing 1 that he pretends that he does not know anything.

Letter Activity:

We had a lot of fun this week with foods that start with the letter c.  Each day he made an uppercase and a lower case letter c out of food.  We used candy, corn, and celery.

He also completed the letter C maze, poking page and coloring page in the Yummy Letter C packet that I made.

I also introduced a new game called blackout.  Two players take turns rolling a die.  The person to blackout the last letter C wins.  Thing 2 really enjoyed the game, once he decided to play.

Thing 2’s victory celebration when he beat me at blackout.

Math:

Along with the blackout game (above) which worked on counting, we also worked on AB and ABB patterns using circles and squares.  He has caught on to patterns fairly quickly, which surprises me since some days he acts like he knows nothing.

Handwriting:

We continued with prewriting and writing the letter C.  However, I think I need to find something else to add to this lineup, because I think he is getting bored.

Cutting Practice:

I mixed up our cutting practice this week by having Thing  practice cutting on celery.  It is the celery that we used to make the letters C and c pictured above.

Recipe:

As part of our Yummy Letter C week, we made C shaped sugar cookies.  You can find the recipe {HERE}.

What has your three year old be up to this week?
