{Cameron Class} Back Together Again

Written by Mommy Cameron | Homeschooling

It has been a while since I have formally planned some activities for all the boys and I to do together.  However as I started preparing for the new school year, I realized that there were numerous activities that I wanted to include in Thing 1’s kindergarten curriculum that I could also include Thing 2 and Thing 3. Thus, Cameron Class was brought back.

Now to be honest, Thing 1 is the one who does most of the activities.  Thing 2 and Thing 3 really just do a lot of listening, if they are interested and help Thing 1 if they can.

This was our first week and it was great!  I think Thing 1 liked doing the activities because they were not officially part of his “school time.”  Thing 2 and Thing 3 just like the extra reading and cuddle time with Mommy.

Each week we are going to work through The Beginner’s Bible Timeless Children’s Stories (which I scored for half price.)  I will read the story and then the boys (Thing 1) will do the activity.  This week was Genesis 1. For the activity, I copied the pages from the book and after I read the story, I had Thing 1 put the pictures back in order.

Berenstain Bears Character Study:
So I completely stole this idea from the Enchanted Homeschooling Mom.  She has created a curriculum based from the Berenstain Bears.  Although I am not using her curriculum, I am using her idea of discussing character with my boys using the Berenstain Bear books.  This weeks book was The Berenstain Bears and the Bad Influence by Stan & Jan Berenstain with Mike Berenstain.

Fable or Fairy Tale:
As a way to expose my boys to some of the classic fables and fairy tales I plan to read one fable or fairy tale a week.  This week we read Beauty and the Beast.\

Chapter Read Aloud Book:
Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater
Thing 2 is in love with penguins so I thought this might be a fun book to start our chapter book read alouds.

We didn’t get to our story and art (stART) activity this week, but we will catch up on it next week.

What fun things do you do with your family?
