Making Name Snowflakes

Written by Mommy Cameron | Homeschooling

Today we invited our homeschool group over to make snowflakes using their names. This craft could not have come at a better time considering that it snowed over the weekend. This made a great follow up to our snow day.

It was really interesting to see how each name created a snowflake.

Creating Snowflakes using Names

piece of white paper construction paper

1. Fold your piece of paper like a hamburger.

2. Fold your paper like a hamburger, again.

3. Fold the paper one more time, making a pizza shape, making sure to match up the folds and there is a point where all the folds meet.

4. Trim the extra in a semi circular form. It should look somewhat like an ice cream cone.

5. Write your name using block letters. Make sure your letters go all the way to the edges of the paper and that they touch each other.

6. Using scissors, cut away the parts that do not make your name.

7. Open your snowflake.

Before we started the craft I showed a short YouTube video about snowflakes.

After the group left, I showed the boys a few other videos.
