This blog was created when my husband I and decided to start exploring the world of homeschooling. Last year, my oldest (Thing 1) attended a private preschool. The school was a great little preschool. Thing 1 started the year excited to be there. However, as the year went on, he wasn’t so excited. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning was a battle to get him out the door.
Since Thing 1 was 15 months old, we have been doing something. Whether it was drawing pictures, painting, going on play dates, nature walks or exploring what North Texas has to offer. As we were battling my son about going to preschool, my husband I would joke that I made being at home so much more fun than school was.
It was around this time that a friend of ours asked if I had thought about homeschooling since we are always doing such fun things at home. Honestly, I had thought about it, but knew that my husband would never go for it.
However, as the school year would go on and he would hear the battles every morning when he would call (he works out of town 4-5 days a week), I think his thoughts began to change. So as a way to share the information that I had found I created this blog. It was a place for me to link up all the research I found so that he could review it while he was out of town.
As the school year came to a close, we had decided that homeschooling Thing 1 would be best. Like I would say, “he was way to young to hate school.” Thus, this blog has gone from a collection of articles and research for my husband to read into a way to share with our family and friends what we are doing as well as a way to document our journey.
Thus this is our homeschooling journey!
